HemingwayDesign and NEW Masterplanning, and Allies and Morrison are pleased to have worked with Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council on this exciting opportunity to develop an ambitious and forward-thinking strategy for the long-term future of the town centre.

This is a team with vision, the ability to engage with a range of stakeholders and a proven track record in delivering change in town and city centres.

They understand that the actions undertaken through our masterplanning process will define Basingstoke for generations to come. Throughout the project the team created a vision that will guide action taken by the council and its partners to help Basingstoke create a unique identity and ensure the town centre offers an exciting shopping, leisure and cultural experience. They are brave and retain a deep sense of responsibility in terms of creating a vision that can be delivered. They also ensured that this vision aligns with the borough’s overarching Horizon 2050 Vision.

The team see real potential for Basingstoke to move forward in these times of change that, whilst admittedly are challenging, provide a once in a lifetime opportunity to make a positive difference for current and future generations of Basingstoke residents, workers and visitors.

Allies and Morrison

Allies and Morrison were commissioned to produce a masterplan for the town centre. Informed by the vision, the masterplan presents an invaluable opportunity to clearly set out the principles for development, investment and sustainable growth. The work helped define the area’s distinct role, identify deliverable projects and illustrate how Basingstoke Town Centre can be positively transformed.

They brought exceptional knowledge and experience in creating inspiring and viable visions. Their goal for Basingstoke was to establish a clear and engaging urban design framework for the buildings, streets and spaces of our town centre – while proposing how these elements can best work together. This guides Basingstoke Town Centre’s future evolution, placing it at the heart of the wider community with a strong sense of identity to attract visitors.

Allies and Morrison is a practice of architects and urbanists based in London, Cambridge and Dublin. They shape enduring places whether new pieces of city or settlements at any scale. They also strive to design beautiful buildings that have a long life and can adapt over the generations. In all their projects, they are concerned with the crafting of every detail and an appreciation of the uniqueness of each context.
